Google Caffeine
Beginning in January 2010 we started to notice the effects of Google's new algorithm called "Caffeine", which was described as a major rewrite of Googles search architecture. There hasn't been a major rewrite like this one since the big daddy update in 2005.
Google launched Caffeine to clean up the mess that the SEO industry had caused. Everyone from the search engine optimization professionals to the web site owners themselves participated in paid and reciprocal link building at a furious rate. Whole industries sprang up and were built around exploiting Google's algorithm which awarded reciprocal and back links. It became so bad that the practice just became no longer sustainable and the system was threatening to collapse in on itself.

Since January Google Caffeine changes have been rolling out, and everyone has started to see the results of the proverbial rug being pulled out from under this market and there's more yet to come. Google has announced that there will be as many as 300 changes over this year. This isn't a gradual shift - this is happening right now on a very large scale.
Over the years we have come to recognize that google will always make every attempt to systematically identify and remove "cheaters". We're already starting to see Significant devaluation on automated link building and book marking processes from India.
It's not that link building and bookmarking is inherently bad in fact quite the opposite. However, anything that looks unnatural will just no longer carry the weight that it used to and might get you penalized. It appears today google is looking for a more natural and balanced presence. You will need to boost your website relevancy with content clustering helping to establish you as an authority site. In combination with developing a link building strategy that targets some quality and highly relevant backlinks to your web site.

It's important to note the two go hand in hand and is one of the first steps to achieving top ranking when combined with the following. Audit your user interface and code, optimize images with related non-spammy meta-tags (GIFs or PNGs for smaller files and JPEGs for larger more detailed images), and purge unnecessary duplicate content and take steps to increase page load speed. "Caffeine", is both fast and inpatient its 900% faster with a page loading speed increase and depth of indexing, and no patients for slow loading web sites.
In my opinion the most important new factor is that the social networks and local search now seem to be contributing more value than ever before to your ranking results. From a host of content sources including relevant sites like press releas sites, blogs, social networks such as Foursquare, Twitter Linkedin, and Facebook to name a few, as well as video sharing sites like YouTube. Today all contribute heavily to your search engine rankings by presenting a more naturally occurring organic online presence.
