Banner Design Tips

One of my favorite phrases.

I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is god's business.

Banner Design Tips
To keep you ahead of the competition!

Giting Attention and interest is the responsibility of your banner.

A well chosen banner design can make the difference between an unsuccessful and successful banner ad campaign. I have found that the following banner design tips can increase CTRs (click through rates) and resulting sales. I hope these tips help you.

Banner Design Do's

Fast-to-download

There's nothing better than ANIMATION to increase your banner's CTR (Click-through rate).Your animation should attract, not irritate the viewer, so use it carefully

Banner Design Tips #1

For your animated banners, here's some guidelines to apply:

Your animation should be bold enough to attract the eye but should not be so obnoxious that it interferes or clashes with the design of the web page you are advertising on.

Animation that loops constantly tends to irritate and aggravate visitors. I have our rule of thumb let it loop between 5 or 7 times, taking care to leaving the main message on the last animation frame.

On rare occasions some visitors will stop the loading before the banner animation has loaded fully, occasionally leaving only the first frame. Therefore it might be wise to have your message, appear in the first frame if you know that the web page you are advertising on has a long download time.

Banner Design Tips #2

Make a call to action. I suggest you always, place a "Click here" or "Submit" image in your banner that can significantly increase your CTR.

Banner Design Tips #3

Use bold colors Green, yellow and blue banners seem to have a higher CTR than plain black-and-white banners. Always use the color red sparingly.

Banner Design Tips #4

Use the word "Free" in your banner. Quite often overused but still effective the word free arouses attention, but don't use free money it arouses suspicion. ( free demo, free trial )

Banner Design Tips #5

Give a benefit for clicking on your banner. For example, "Do you want more family time?" or, "Need help with children?" The answer to the question will be on your web site.

Banner Design Tips #6

Keep the message short. Simple straight to the point banners have higher CTRs than unfocused, wordy banners.

Banner Design Tips #7

Link the banner to a specific page. Don't waste their time, when someone clicks on your banner, they want to go directly to where the information is on your web page. The visitor does not want to go to your home page and have to hunt for the information on your web site.

Banner Design Tips #8

Keep it fresh change your banners frequently. After about two weeks your CTRs will drop off significantly. I have found the CTRs will go back up after a new banner has been introduced.

Banner Design Tips #9

To find the most effective banner design for your business, you must go through a period of testing.
